Installation and Registering

TSG can be installed by running the TSG setup file, which will automatically install TSG onto your PC. During the installation you will be requested to agree to the TSG user licence, please take the time to read through this and then select "I Agree" to proceed. You will then be given a choice as to which directory you would like to put TSG into, but unless you have a particular preference, TSG will set up a default "The Spectral Geologist" directory in the "Program Files" folder on your PC. The set up program will also create an uninstall entry for TSG in the TSG directory should you ever need to remove the program.

At this stage, if you have chosen a dongle the installation program will install the "HASP" driver software which will set up TSG to use a dongle. If you have chosen to use Node Locking then de-select the "HASP Driver" option, as you will not need it.

 Registering your TSG

When TSG has been installed, double click on the desktop icon to start up TSG for the first time. The first time TSG is run a registration window will open (see figure).

  1. Dongle Option: If you have chosen to use a dongle select Locked to "Dongle" then click "Read File" to enter the details from your registration information file (which is usually emailed to you by AusSpec) with your dongle attached. Then select "Register" to enter your details. Please contact AusSpec if you do not have this file.

  2. Node Lock Option: If you have chosen to use Node Locking select Locked to "Computer" then enter in your User Name and Company name details and click on "Request". This should generate an email message to AusSpec with your details and Lock ID. AusSpec will then email you a registration file. To load up the registration details click on "Read File" to load up the details from the file, and then select "Register".

Please note that the User Name in the registration details should be the name of the person who is taking responsibility for ensuring that no unlicensed copies of the software are distributed.

The registration details must be entered accurately before TSG will operate fully (note make sure that there are NO spaces at end of lines etc). If you change the registration details TSG will not run. Once you have entered this information TSG should be fully operational.

Troubleshooting

  1. Requesting registration details: If the "Request" button doesn't work and wont set up an email with your details and lock ID in the body of the message (in some cases this information is put all in the "To:" field) then please copy and paste the Lock ID into a message to AusSpec. In this case, make sure that you have copied the Lock ID to the end of the line, in some computers the ID number extends a few characters beyond the view of the registration box.

  2. Registering using the supplied registration file: If TSG won't accept  your registration details, it will report an error about "a parrot on your shoulder".  This means that there is something amiss with your registration details. First check to see if there are any hanging spaces at the end of any of the registration boxes as these would be treated as characters.  Contact TSG Support if you still cannot successfully register TSG.
