TSG News
April 2011
TSG
7.1 is now available, which includes a number of bug fixes from 7.0.
All users of 7.0 can upgrade to 7.1 to get the benefit of these bug
fixes. All users will need new licence details for the new
upgrade, so please contact AusSpec for a new licence file if one has not
been sent to you already.
In addition,
the Australian state geological surveys can download TSG 7.1 to access the "Hot
Core" capabilities for use with the new vis-NIR-SWIR-Thermal HyLoggers.
The thermal capabilities are still in beta testing mode and only available to
the geological surveys and not for general release as yet.
June
2010
We are
pleased to announce that the latest version of the TSG suite (version
7.0) will be available on the 1st July 2010.
This version
contains a host of new features including the new "Spectral Assistant" (TSA)
v6.0, enhanced import and display utilities, improved feature extraction
options plus an updated user manual. All this in addition to a large number of
general improvements make working with TSG Core, Pro or Lite easier than ever
before.
In addition we
now have a free version of the TSG viewer which is available to all users who
want to take a look at an already processed TSG file.
Another new
feature is that, if you are online, TSG 7 will check for any new updates when
you first start up so that you can be sure that you will always have the latest
build and bug fixed versions running on your PC.
Below is a
summary of the new features in TSG Pro and Core
(note that the version number of
TSG Pro has jumped to 7 to equalise the version numbers of all members of the
TSG suite).
New to TSG Pro 7:
TSA v6.0
o
An enhanced TSA algorithm, with improved matches and functionality.
Assay Import
o Increase
your productivity – save time with the new Assay import function which allows
you to import logging and assay data by hole and depth intervals.
Merge Multiple TSG Files
o
Merge all those small TSG files into a single TSG file for more efficient
processing and analysis. Analysis of a large project data set rather than
individual holes allows more in depth assessment of alteration-mineralisation
relationships.
New Feature extraction option:
o
A new feature extraction algorithm “the Green Machine” allows you to extract
features more accurately which is useful for outputting wavelengths, depths and
areas for weak inflections and shoulders.
VLines enhancements:
o
VLines templates – save your vlines as templates
o
Radius – your vlines can now have different radii to accommodate varying
wavelengths for features
Scatterplot display enhancements:
o Top down y axis for plotting down hole samples
o Grid plot option for plotting sample point density
o Weighted histograms
o New
auto scale options
New summary screen display:
o
Spatial summary display now present with the Overview display plot, which allows
you to view down hole summary of mineralogy.
General display:
o
The TSG screens can now be viewed with a white background..
And many more internal changes and enhancements to make TSG easier to use and
work more smoothly…..
New to TSG Core 7:
TSA v6.0
o
An enhanced TSA algorithm, with improved matches and functionality.
o User TSA
scalars, trial out changing the TSA settings to compare against the system TSA
scalars.
o Retrain
the TSA results based on changes in the selected minerals and mixtures.

Enhanced Polyfit function
o You can now
visualise your polyfit settings in the TSG Floater screen using the Evaluate
button.
This additional functionality allows you to evaluate your settings before
applying them to the data set.
o
Set
thresholds for the polyfit results based on minimum depth and area and maximum
noise, to discard unreliable results.
o Up to 12
polynomial order functions, allowing improved fits of small subtle features.
New Stats functions:
o Calculate Principal Components statistics on your data set.
o Spectral layer, wavelength regions and resampling options.
New Feature extraction option:
o
A new feature extraction algorithm “the Green Machine” allows you to extract
features more accurately which is useful for outputting wavelengths, depths and
areas for weak inflections and shoulders (as a possible alternative to the PFit
function).
VLines enhancements:
o
VLines templates – save your vlines as templates
o
Radius – your vlines can now have different radii to accommodate varying
wavelengths for features
Floater
display enhancements, include:
o Stats
mode to display and analyse your data set statistics (view the results of the
Stats calculations).
Scatterplot
display enhancements, include:
o Top down y axis for plotting down hole samples
o Grid plot option for plotting sample point density
o Weighted histograms
o New
auto scale options
New summary screen display:
o
Spatial summary display now present with the Overview display plot, which allows
you to view down hole summary of mineralogy.
Hole screen
display enhancements, include:
o Hole screen available in TSG files for non-HyLogging data sets (before
it was only seen when a HyLogging data set was loaded)
o
Display down hole class scalars (such as imported Lithology or interpreted
Mineral Assemblage).
Improved depth logging tools,
including:
o See your depths in both meters and feet/inches.
o
Nuke depths option to blank out all depths input by a HyLogging operator, in the
case of major errors now you can start all over again.
And many more internal changes and enhancements to make TSG Core easier to use
and work more smoothly…..
